A Desert Storm man saves the life of a dog who is trapped inside a hot car in Athens Georgia and gets arrested for criminal trespassing!
More on the story below the fold.
On May 12th a Desert Storm veteran encountered a dog trapped inside a hot car in Athens GA and saw that the dog was in distress. He took action and broke into the car to save the dog. When the owner came outside and saw it, she demanded that the man be arrested for Criminal Trespassing.
The story from CBS news
The woman was cited for leaving the dog in the hot car.
In Georgia you are legally allowed to break into a car to rescue a child in distress but not a pet. This really needs to change. When a pet is in distress one should have a right to save the pets life!
We humans have a duty and a responsibility to our pets and we should do everything possible to take care of them and keep them healthy. If we can't do this we should not have a pet.
Fortunately a few days later the charges were dropped but it is truly sad that he was arrested in the first place.
UPDATE: A reader alerted me to something which was not clear. So I would like to categorically state that my issue with this man being arrested was not with the cops who did what they had to do, but rather with the woman for pressing the issue to begin with when she should have simply accepted that she was negligent in leaving the dog in the hot car to begin with and all this man did was to try to save a defenseless dog. Thanks to the reader for pointing this out, hopefully it is more clear now.
